The construction industry marked 13 consecutive months of increased employment with another 39,000 jobs added in January. Over the past three months the construction industry has added 113,000 jobs bringing the total number of jobs added in the past 12 months (Jan. 2014 – Jan. 2015) to 308,000. That’s an average of 25,667 jobs per month.
The number of jobs added in December has been revised down to 44,000 from the initial 48,000 reported last month. Jobs added in November was revised up from 20,000 to 30,000.
Total construction employment according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is at 6,314,000, the highest it’s been since February 2009.
